Full Car Wrap: Are Door Shuts, Edges and Dismantling Included?

A new exterior colour does not tell you how the car will look with its doors open. The words full wrap alone do not define every surface. Agree a list of areas before ordering so you know where film is planned and where original paint may remain visible.

Separate exterior panels from door openings

Ask for the surfaces to be listed. Separate visible exterior panels from door openings, sills and inner edges. Is your priority the appearance with doors closed, or do you also want less original colour visible when getting in? Exterior wrapping and additional work inside the openings are not automatically the same job. Ask to see the planned transition on your vehicle. Our car wrapping service in Mainz explains full and partial wraps.

Point to the area rather than relying on a label

Words such as edge, shut and sill can be understood differently. Point to the part you mean: • The edge of an exterior panel. • The inner edge of an open door. • The painted body opening around the doorway. • The visible or frequently contacted sill area. This is a discussion checklist, not a promise that every surface on every vehicle can be wrapped.

Plan for the original colour

Planning example, not a customer case: a white car receives a dark exterior wrap. With the door closed, the change looks right; with it open, the white doorway is visible. That is not automatically a workmanship defect if only exterior panels were agreed. Photograph the car with doors open and include bonnet and tailgate transitions. Mark where you do not want original colour to remain. This helps establish the scope and whether the result is practical.

Ask what will be dismantled

Ask which handles, trims or other parts will be removed and which will remain fitted. More dismantling is not automatically better workmanship; the approach needs to suit the part and the planned finish. Also clarify whether any fixings or replacement parts require a separate agreement. A blanket phrase such as dismantling included is less useful than a clear description of the work.

Copy this enquiry checklist

Vehicle: model, year and original colour. Desired finish: colour, finish and, if available, a sample reference. Exterior: list the panels to be wrapped. Open doors: identify inner edges, openings and sill areas to discuss. Trim: ask which parts will be removed. Paint history: disclose repairs, repainting and coatings. Handover: agree the transitions and excluded surfaces to review together. Send overview photos and close-ups of marked areas. Give competing providers the same surface list before comparing their totals. See our guide to car wrapping cost factors.

Discuss the paint condition as well as coverage

A detailed surface list cannot make an unsuitable substrate ready for film. Disclose previous repairs and read wrapping a repainted car. For Quattro in Mainz-Hechtsheim, send the areas you want wrapped and photos with the doors open. We will discuss a suitable scope with you. Enquire about a wrap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are door shuts automatically included in a full wrap?
Not from the name alone. Ask for exterior panels, door openings and inner edges to be identified separately in the quote.
Is visible original colour inside a door always a defect?
No. It depends on the agreed coverage. Discuss the transitions before placing the order.
Does every wrap require complete dismantling?
No. Ask how each relevant part will be handled and why that approach suits the proposed work.
